There were 31 teams in the Varsity Switch-Sides division. The tournament broke to quarterfinals after six preliminary debates (rounds two through six were paired using a challenge format). The elimination rounds were also paired using a challenge format in which the highest seed selected their opponent and sides were determined via coin flip. It took a 4-2 record with points to clear; two 4-2 teams broke and six did not.
